howto uninstall / delete iLife?
how could i completely uninstall iLife'05 (iPhoto, iMovie, iDVD & Garageband) and all it's corresponding files?
the fact is that i practically do not use 'em, and i assume that those apps (and their libraries) are taking some space :). may by someday later i will turn back to iLife'06, but for now i just want to clean my system a bit :). thank you in advance. |

I would recommend against uninstalling iLife unless you are getting short of disk space. Just ignore the files/folders. You might find it useful someday.
But if you insist, you can just drag the apps from /Application to the Trash. The largest part of the disk space is taken up by the support files which are in the /Library/Application Support - in sub-folders named after each of the apps. Again, just drag these folders to the Trash.

hayne, thanks.
but is there any other libs, which could be located not only in Application Support? i do remember something about e.g. GarageBand storing its samples / sounds / etc somewhere else... but i don't remember exactly -- do you know something about it?talking about uninstalling iLife in general -- well, even those, who use it, probably should act in similar wau before installing iLife'06, shouldn't they? just in order to avoid some possible conflicts... |

1) I don't know of other folders containing iLife files that take up significant amounts of disk space. Maybe use one of the 3rd-party utilities "OmniDiskSweeper" or "Disk Inventory X" to show you where the disk space is going.
2) I am sure that the iLife 06 installer will do the right thing regarding the iLife 05 files.

coming back to the topic: GarageBand's files also sit in /Users/Shared/GarageBand Demo Songs -- but may be not only here? e.g. /Library/Audio/Apple Loops -- what is it?
and size... i assume installed '05 takes about ~3GB, so it's not so small to keep if i never used it .
