just had a listen to 'Rose Of Sharyn' by Killswitch Engage... its pretty harsh.. very angry!

I went to see Napalm Death a year or so ago.... it was cool, drinking cans of Red Stripe and listening to some very fast very angry 1 minute long songs.... oddly the lead singer is REALLY well spoken.

you should check out a little band called coalesce, never got real big, but did get big enough to be known on the indy labels. Almost every metal band that is somewhat big today tries to emulate them, its sad, but thats what happen when you pioneer something new i suppose. Mind you their stuff came out in early to mid 90s.

I can't believe no one here has mentioned Porcupine Tree. So very, very good. Their older stuff is 'prog' I guess, while the last two albums are a bit more 'rock' but played with wonderful skill.

I'm going to have to go ahead and recommend Tool as well. Their new album is very good. I just saw them a few weeks ago in Denver and it was amazing.

Tool - The Pot
Tool - Jambi
Tool - Right In Two

I'm also partial to Classical so who knows where this is leading....

Re-discovered 'Ian Brown' recently.... formerly from the Stone Roses...

if you have a spare 79p download 'Longsite M13' from Itunes, turn the volume up and enjoy!

........Had forgotton about Massive Attack..... I am gonna go get their 'best of' album off iTunes now..... A lot of good Music comes from Bristol... as well as Massive Attack.... there is Roni Size, Reprezent and all the whole crew of Dj's.. check out 'Brown Paper Bag' by Roni Size... if you haven't already... and oldie buta goldie!

Got myself Pearl Jam's double cd best of "Rearviewmirror" for Christmas. A lot of strong tracks on there. Except it's going to make me completely deaf because they're tracks that you just think "I love this song, have to crank it up" and then the next song's just as good so it stays cranked.

Man I was racking my brain recently trying to remember the name of this band. I had one of their albums way back and was feeling nostalgic but do you think I could remember their name?

My list includes the bands that may be similar to each other. I call this style "Love Rock". Really nice. Lovely. Romantic. Relaxing. Vital.

Coldplay
Reamonn
Keane
Radiohead
Hinder
Rilo Kiley
Thirteen Senses
Brainstorm
Esthetic Education
My Chemical Romance
The Killers

Not Rock but also nice:

Faithless
Deepest Blue
Planet Funk

Try them! You won't be disappointed!

They are all pretty cool, and its kind of cool to hear rock bands being covered by an orchestra.

I forget what the movie was ( about all I can tell you is that it had Richard Gere in it ??? ). Anyway it had an instrumental version of Exit Music off OK Computer played on piano that I wouldn't mind hearing again.

Just realised this album wasn't self titled. Should have been;

Hard to pin it down to one, and I realise this isn't a Jaco Pastorius album, but Joni Mitchell's "Mingus" springs to mind.

Looking at the track list of The Essential Jaco Pastorius, I see it has a lot of great songs I've heard before on other albums and I would recommend it too.

Finally, the self-titled album by Michel Colombier has some tracks featuring some of my favourite Jaco Pastorius bass playing ... for example, the song 'Layas' is one of my all time favourite Jaco collaborations, more so by the fact that the guitar playing is by Larry Carlton ...

Cool, thanks. I might check out Mingus. Sounds like a good line up with Herbie Hancock and Wayne Shorter and I like Charles Mingus.
