how do you change the from address in mail ?

I want to use gmail as my pop email from Mail app, but I still cant change the "from" address so instead of name@gmail.com I want it to be name@place.com, I know gmail has the power to do that via their web app but not via the prograa,mm ? Any clue ??

In Mail, go to the Preferences. In there click on Compose. In the Addressing section, the last option allows you to select which one of your configured mail boxes you wish to send from.

Don't create new accounts just to have more From addresses unless you want to check and manage those accounts in Mail. Things can get messy fast.

If you only have one account but want to be able to use different From addresses, go to your Mail preferences, to Account Information, and in Email Addresses, type multiple addresses separated by commas. (e.g., "address@server.com, user@ISP.com, username@yahoo.com") This will create multiple From addresses in the From popup menu.

Wish I could remember where I read it. Maybe on the Apple Discussion forums. Massively useful though!
