Question Modifying metadata in AAC/M4A files

I would like to know if the following is feasible:

When I play Podcasts on my iPod, and click the middle button of the clickwheel a few times, a description of the podcast comes up. I think this is the same description that can be found in the 'description' field in iTunes, when a Podcast is selected.

I would like to be able to add my own 'descriptions' to regular music files from the library, so that when playing a tune on my iPod, a few clicks on the click wheel would give me whatever description I had embedded.

I would put lyrics, or artist bios in the description, that sort of thing.

Presumably 'extra' metadata would have to be added. Would iPod even display the 'description' if the file wasn't a podcast, but part of the library?

thanks in advance, Andy

PS I know I could just add this as notes with the same folder hierarchy as my music, but it simply wouldn't be as fun...or neat.

Thats a cool idea. And it could be easily scripted through some command line goodness and curl.

But I would take a look at this:

http://developer.apple.com/documenta...meMetadata.htm

And also http://developer.apple.com/documenta...section_9.html

For a sample program that uses some data, try this: http://www.macdevcenter.com/pub/a/ma...quicktime.html
