Tune AFP maxThreads on Leopard Desktop?

I am using Leopard (non-server) on a G5 to share files to the Macs in the house via AFP.

I think that the AFP server on the G5 is running out of threads.

I found this article:

http://support.apple.com/kb/TA24270?viewlocale=en_US

but it applies to OS X server, not the desktop version. I can't seem to access com.apple.AppleFileServer.plist even though the file exists.

Anyone know how to set AFP's maxThreads on "regular" OS X Leopard?

Any help/insights appreciated.

You can only have 10 AFP connections at the same time. You can have unlimited SMB connections.

I don't think MaxThreads is not relevant on Leopard Client OS as such. It is generally used for performance tuning when you have lots of network connections on AFP on Tiger server which you cannot have as such as you are limited to 10 anyway.

To read a plist you need Property List Editor. There is no mention of max threads in this file. (com.apple.AppleFileServer.plist)

The command would be on Server OS
sudo serveradmin settings afp:maxThreads=100

There is no setting that i know of on Leopard Client that involves tweaking this.

Also what are the problems you are having ?

It could be related to how idle users are managed by AFP or the "reconnectTTLInMin" is set too high causing problems with connections not releasing etc.
