Thumbs up Solved

I just wanted to say thanks to everyone who helped solve that printer problem.

I switched from XP and already had the 1020. I have an intel macbook with os x 10.4.8. For me it was necesary to follow the above instruction plus to select manually the driver via the printer setup "other" panel, since after installation the driver wouldnt show even then. After selecting the driver manually, it worked just fine. Maybe thats helpful to someone else, too.

Thx again!

Thumbs up HP LaserJet 1022

HP LaserJet 1022 is compatible with the iMac X.4.8. GOOD NEWS! We suffered much grief until we got it. HP and Mac support were not much help for about a week. We were going to return printer.

THEY ARE COMPATIBLE.

Delete HP printer folder from "Library". Not sure this is what "Tech" said. The thing was, delete HP folder. Then use "printer set-up.

Being a novice, what seemed to give us the edge, was to re-install OS and printer driver. Good Luck! IT will work.http://forums.macosxhints.com/images/icons/icon14.gif

LaserJet 1020 Driver

Does anyone have a copy of the working Laserjet 1020 driver they can send me (nadimewow@yahoo.com)? The link everyone has posted in the epic thread on the Laserjet 1020 no longer works (server does not respond).

Thanks a million!

I just got my 1020 working on a MacBook with the linux foo2zjs driver (http://foo2zjs.rkkda.com/). It works really well. Getting it to work is a bit of a headache, but it's worth it for a functional printer driver that just works.

You need to compile the driver from scratch, so you need the developer tools installed, and it requires a lot of dependancies that need to also be installed. I basically just kept running the make script until it built, looking at the errors that it generated when the build failed to figure out which dependancy I needed. I believe everything you need can be installed with macports (http://www.macports.org/) but I needed to edit my .bash_profile to change my $PATH before the make script could actually see the dependancies.

I was previously using the printer with the other instructions in this thread where you share the printer using a PPC mac and the old driver for a different printer, but it left a few things unusable on my intel mac. This driver includes all the features of the old PPC driver like changing paper types et al.

If I have time, I can make another post outlining exactly how to get this driver working. Hope this helps people get this awesome and cheap printer working with their intel macs. I think the following quote from the foo2zjs website sums things up nicely: "And if you work for Konica Minolta or HP, you should be embarrassed for your company." Amen, and a big middle finger to HP.

Please!

If anyone can send this driver please, please share the wealth! Just email it to me and I'll email it to the 5 or 6 other people who have contacted me directly.

help

i am trying to install my hp laserjet 1020 on two different macs.. The steps above worked for the first computer but the link had obviously expired by the time I went to do the second one. Could someone please either re-post or email me the link to the old driver. I would be forever grateful. I am about to throw this printer out the window! thanks!

Thumbs up the old hp1022/1020 printer file version 1.0.1201

this should provide the link for people to be able to download the older and working file to get the hp1020 to work. Followed the instructions posted earlier using this file on my 1st gen macbook, and worked like a charm

Zenographics Mono SDK driver

Does anyone know where I can download the Zenographics Mono SDK driver?
The zeno site is now a dead link. The network where I stored my copy has been erased. If anyone has saved a copy of the driver I would sure appreciate a link to the download. Thanks.

Okay, with the above link functioning properly as of this morning, we should have most of our problems solved except for those getting that pesky "nothing to install" notice during attempted installation. Here's the workaround that worked for me just an hour ago:

1) open the above dmg
2) control-click the "hp LaserJet 1022 Series.pkg" icon and choose "Show Package Contents"
3) double click "Contents" folder
4) open "Archive.pax.gz" - this should unzip to a folder called "Library" on your desktop
5) go to that new folder... Library/Printers/hp/laserjet/ where you will see the "1020Series" folder
6) drag ONLY the "1020Series" folder to your HD's Library/Printers/hp/laserjet/ folder (don't accidentally replace your entire library folder or any other folder, just the 1020Series one
7) now, without even having to reset anything, simply "Add Printer" from any print dialog box (which takes you to the Printer Setup Utility) - the printer and driver should show up automatically

Hope that works for you!

I hope this helps!

Greetings All,

I bought a LJ 1020 a long time ago, used it on an ancient iMac with no problem (using the included installer CD). Then moved it home to use with my similarly ancient b/w G3. Went through all the trouble described in this forum to no avail as far as downloading a driver to make it work. Went back to the ancient iMac (which is still used once in a while at my office), copied the Laserject folder from the library/printers/hp/ directory to a CD. Took it home replaced the same folder on my B/W G3 at home and without a reboot it worked. Just went to ad printer and it showed up in the list! Here is a link to the file for anyone who may need it:

http://www.thisisyouraudiospace.com/printer/

It is a quick download. I hope this saves some of you some headache and trouble.
