I'm guessing that some library files are missing. I looked in other HP folders and library files were present. The laserjet folder has only plugins and no library files. We need those.

For those who got the 1022 drivers to work, could you please tell me if the following files are the only files in the 1020 series folder in the printers library:

Duplex.plugin
hp LaserJet Cleaning Utility
hplj1020PM.plugin
Options.plugin
Paper.plugin
PrintQuality.plugin

These are the only files I got from the 1022 installer. Does anyone who got the 1022 installer to work have any other files? If so, can you send them to me please, at:

meta_lj AT yahoo DOT com

Thank you,
Lorenzo

Got the CD from hp

To those of you who asked, I have emailed a link to mysharefile.com where the image of the CD I got from hp.

If anyone was space to host the image (100MB) I will send it to them as well to share the wealth.

Me too, and I will happily put it on our website and make it available.

wgscott1 AT mac DOT com

FWIW the installer I posted also puts a dylib in /Library/Frameworks

Grrr.

HP updated the LJ_1022_Series_OSX.dmg 6 days ago, im assuming they made it not work with north american 1020's. I dont see why they are trying so hard to stop mac users from using this printer. WGscott can you send me a PM with your email and I will send you some FTP details for you to upload your file, if you would like to help us out. Sounds like you have the original working driver. cheers

HP has a long history of crappy Mac support.

How about buying from manufacturers who give a damn rather than wasting time to hunt down working drivers ?

I assumed it would work since there is an actual driver file; LJ_1022_Series_OSX.dmg

but for them to update it to not work on our printers is just a shitty action.. no respect

sorry, that link is to order the software disk from HP for a shipping charge. Who wants to pay for a disk when you can get an (alleged up-to-date) copy for free?

Have Old Driver Files

The fact that HP changed the driver 6 days ago and there's all these posts that the 1022 driver no longer works totally makes sense.

I bought an HP 1020 about four weeks ago for my office, downloaded the 1022 driver, and it worked perfectly on my G4 PB.

Yesterday I bought another 1020 for home, downloaded the driver, and it won't find the 1020 in the list of available printer drivers, even though the software tells me it "installed successfully."

If someone can tell me which files need to be copied from my PB to my home iMac, and where they need to be copied to (Library, User Library, etc.), I can try it. If it works, I'll make the old driver files available.

If the installer left a .pkg in "/Library/Receipts" (I don't have an hp printer so I don't know if it does), it might be possible to use 'lsbom' to see what was installed by each version to make a comparison. eg. (substitute the correct name for the package):
Code:
/usr/bin/lsbom -p f /Library/Receipts/hpdriver.pkg/Contents/Archive.bom > ~/Desktop/hpbom.txt
If the command is run on both machines and the output files are both copied to one machine's Desktop as say "hpold.txt" and "hpnew.txt", they could be compared using:
Code:
/usr/bin/diff ~/Desktop/hpold.txt ~/Desktop/hpnew.txt
If 'lsbom -f -p cf' is used in the first step, it should also indicate files that were installed by both versions but which might be different in some way.

I got a hold of the 1022 driver before they updated it on hp's ftp. Although when I go to install it, I get a "You cannot continue. There is nothing to install." message? Anyone else give it a shot, or know whats up with it? heres the file;
