Fitting faster RAM in a G5---Worth it?

Hi,
a friend emailed me and I don't know the answer, here is the relevent question from the email:

I am curently finalising configuration of my 2.7 dual powermac, this is intended for high-end 3d work. Do you know if the mainboard functions with new PC5300 667MHz ram in 1Gb strips, std pc3200 400MHz is fitted, i assume the RAM cannot be mixed or the board would default to lower clock speed ?

Any ideas or experience?

Thanks.

You would be wasting your money. That faster memory will (probably) function, but will default to the lower memory bus speed of the G5. The PC3200 will likely be a lot cheaper than the PC5300...
