Using The terminal

I have just started using OSX and have heard that using the terminal helps users to gain the most out of the OS. Is there a good tutorial anywhere, explaining how to make shells and use the terminal for a complete begginer? (I don't know how to program)
Thnks a lot,
Cisco

This was a good one for me:

Sam’s Teach Yourself UNIX in 24 Hours - Taylor / Armstrong [Sams Publishing]

The only thing is it has a lot of stuff in csh (a type of shell) which isn't used too much anymore. Still it's a good place to start in my humble opinion. Of course, I'm assuming you've already checked out griffman's macosx guide on the main site...

Exclamation save a buck or two...

before you buy a book that may not serve your needs...

http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=unix+tutorial

digest some of that, and that will help you to discern charlatan books that offer little bang for the buck they hoover from your booty cache.

understand that you will need to acquire some 'translator' skills with any general unix or shell tutorial as all things unix are not entirely equal.

And don't stray too far from your good host, Griffman, who has provided this for your reading pleasure:

bakaDeshi, ha!

that's right. but i'd qualify that with "stop going huh?? so often." i still have to look for translation and corroboration for some man pages. ergo, the books, the web and valid, useful examples!
