Retrieving lost broadband account password

Hi guys. Is there anyway I can find out what my PPPoE login password is? It's not in my keychain and I don't know how to add it there. I can see the asterix's but I don't know what it is. I want to use the internet on another machine but I don't remember my password.
I'm on OSX 10.3.7

You'll need to contact your ISP for that.

Problem is that I'm in Japan and my Japanese isn't up to the job!

Does anyone know why it isn't in my keychain? There was an old networking password stored there from my old ISP in Hong Kong. Is there anyway to move the current password into my keychain?

Haha - my Japanese is good enough to know not to trust sherlocks translations! They can get you into a lot of trouble!

If your ISP is like most, they cannot tell you your password either. What they can do is change it. Also, remember that your login password is usually the same as your email password and if you use Apple's Mail program, it would be in Keychain Access.

Your login and the password hash are stored in a file called

/Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/preferences.plist

The key values to look out for are

<key>AuthName</key>

and

<key>AuthPassword</key>
