Question Crash and Burn

I have a Powermac G4 733. Recently it started to have very slow performance until it eventually would not boot up. The harddrive started making a clicking sound and I could not get any disk utilities to recognize the drive. After doing some research, I realized that the drive basically failed. I then purchased a new harddrive and installed it. However, when I tried to reinstall OSX, it still would not recognized the drive. I bought a 120GB Western Digital (even though so many people have problems with them) and it comes with a startup disk, but of course it's only for Windows. The ribbon and power supply seem to be connectly correctly. This is my home computer and I don't want to have to spend hundreds of dollars for someone to look at it if it's easy enought to fix myself. I'd appreciate any opinions on the matter.

Thanks!

After booting your OS X Install CD, select "Disk Utility" from under the "Installer" menu. Format your new drive into "Mac OS Extended" format. When you quit Disk Utility, you will be returned to the Installer to proceed installing OS X.
