Cool Photoshop 7 & Epson Scanners

For those of you wondering why Photoshop 7 doesn't recognize your Epson Scanner:

It turns out the Epson TWAIN driver didn't work for one reason: the guys at Epson forgot to include the TWAIN Data Source Manager.

Here's how to get the Epson TWAIN driver working:

1. After installing the Epson TWAIN driver at http://www.apple.com/downloads/macos...erdrivers.html, point your browser to http://www.twain.org/carbon_dsm.htm .
2. Fill out the form with any old name and email and submit it.
3. Download the SDK disk image in the page that follows after you submit the form.
4. Mount the disk image and double-click it to open it. Open "Carbon TWAIN SDK", then "TWAIN" within that. Inside that folder you will see a shared lib called "TWAIN Source Manager.Shlb".
5. Copy "TWAIN Source Manager.Shlb" to /Library/CFMSupport on your Mac OS X system drive.

That's it. Note that the data source manager you installed is 1.9b3. You might want to periodically check back at http://www.twain.org to see if a more recent version has been posted.

epson drivers

Hi chaps, I d/l epson's X drivers for the Epson perfection 2450 and the X driver for Epson Stylus C70 plus. Installed both into my X volume, both installations went OK but neither works at all, scanner isn't recognised and I can't even find the driver for the C70 on my root system or my one and only users system and the installer for the printer driver left an invisible disc image on my desktop which gave me a real headache to find and remove.
Anyone get any of these so called X drivers to work.

I think we've been scanned

I have a brand new Epson 2450 scanner and I installed the drivers for Jaguar from Epson as well as the fix from TWAIN stated above. My scanner fires up, makes some cool noises, brings up the Epson scanner window, then turns off and says that the scanner can't be found. What a tease!

No fix yet. I will post whatever I find. Please help if you can, otherwise the G4 gets it.

Thanks

Here's a cool one. the twain drivers work in image capture, too. I hooked up an epson perfection 1650su, got the beta drivers from epson through versiontracker, and image capture handles the scanning. Even better, if you push the scan button on the scanner, it launches image capture and does a pre scan.

Try Repairing Permissions on your Boot Disk

I had problems getting my Epson scanner to work under 10.2 at first also. Then I saw a hint on the Adobe support site to use the "Repair Disk Permissions" function that is part of Disk First Aid for Jaguar. (You may need to boot from an installer CD to do this.) This fixed the problem for me.

It also works with GraphicsConverter.

I'd like to see some of the support programs ported to OS X. I used the smart-panel photo-copier app a lot! Its one of the only things for which I need to go into classic.

Epson 1260 doesn't quite work

I installed the 10/31 drivers from Epson, fired up the scanner and Image Capture says I have "no camera installed". Ditto for iPhoto.

Epson's very own "Scan To File" program works fine, though.

I'm running 10.1.5.

Any suggestions?
