10.1 mysql user problem

I did not know mysql came with OS X, so I downloaded the free copy. It installed fine, but when I read the readme file, I realized I forgot to create a user for mysql. I tried and it says one already exists. I went to the command line and the directory under the users folder does not exist. Can anyone help me figure this out. Thanks!!!

Not every user has a home folder. In this case, the mysql user will be the one responsible for 'owning' the mysqld process.

Jaguar ok, but

I want to delete it and erase any record on the mysql user. I find the folder in terminal, but it won't let me erase it. It says permission denied. I tried to log on as root, but it won't accept my passwork. Any suggestions on what to do?

mysql is part of 10.3 and can be found in /usr/local/mysql. With 10.2 you needed to install it yourself.

"/usr -> local -> mysql" for me... but a 'locate mysql" should tell you for sure on your own system.

/usr/local/mysql not there

I have a new powerbook with 10.3.5 installed but mysql is not present. Was this an option from the developer disk or something?
