Would it help if I said that I'm running OSX 10.3.3 on a 1.3 gig G4 with the latest version of Fink?

Jazzy1,

Try force removing libungif-shlibs:

dpkg -r --force-depends libungif-shlibs

and then run fink install gimp2 again.

Thanks for your response, I got much further but this time it failed with the following error:

checking for gimpprint-config... no
checking for GIMP-PRINT - version >= 4.2.0... no
*** The gimpprint-config script installed by GIMP-PRINT could not be found
*** If GIMP-PRINT was installed in PREFIX, make sure PREFIX/bin is in
*** your path, or set the GIMPPRINT_CONFIG environment variable to the
*** full path to gimpprint-config.
configure: error:
*** Check for libgimpprint failed. You can download it from
*** http://gimp-print.sourceforge.net/ or you can build without it by passing
*** --disable-print to configure (but you won't be able to print then).
make: *** No targets specified and no makefile found. Stop.
### execution of /var/tmp/tmp.1.nOUr9Z failed, exit code 2
Failed: compiling gimp2-2.0.0-2 failed

I see there are packages for gimp2 no print. I'm compiling that now.

Thanks again.

Jazzy1,

You can use the Panther Install CD, to install the gimp-print drivers:
Code:
[pm @ Sao: ~] % grepbom libgimpprint
........................./usr/lib/libgimpprint.1.1.0.dylib      776,192 Sun Sep 14 13:01:35 2003
./usr/lib/libgimpprint.1.dylib  24      Sun Sep 14 13:01:36 2003
./usr/lib/libgimpprint.dylib    24      Sun Sep 14 13:01:36 2003
   ====> /Library/Receipts/GimpPrintPrinterDrivers.pkg/Contents/Archive.bom

............................................../usr/lib/libgimpprint.1.1.0.dylib 776,192 Fri Dec 19 07:07:40 2003
   ====> /Library/Receipts/MacOSXUpdate10.3.3.pkg/Contents/Archive.bom

../usr/lib/libgimpprint.1.1.0.dylib     776,192 Fri Dec 19 07:07:40 2003
