Forward button missing from Toolbar

Has anyone else seen this?: Upgraded to Panther and now if I customize Finder's Toolbar to show "Text Only", navigation is limited to the Back button, the Forward button is missing! Could there be a conflict with some non-Apple app or PreferencePane?

I have a clean version of Panther and I have the forward button in both Icon and Text. I switched to Text Only and it is there. So not sure what is causing your problem.

Maybe! Are you saying that there is no forward facing arrow (maybe greyed out), only one arrow which faces back?

First time I really noticed I guess, because I have the text turned off in the ToolBar, but the arrows show only the word 'Back', but both arrows work. Is that what you mean? There is no arrow that is labeled 'forward'...

Aha! I see what you mean! Text only, shows only the word 'back'
How do you go 'Forward' with a text only toolbar?

Use Command ] to go forward when there's no arrow to use. (from the 'Go' menu in the finder)

Re: Forward button missing from Toolbar

I mean 'Text Only' and yes, I realize that even with 'Icon Only' or 'Icon & Text' I've just got the one word but I can nevertheless navigate in both directions.

My situation means that I can only go forward by using the 'Go' menu or the key combination 'Command ]' or not at all. This is the situation at home but at work I am still using Jaguar and there, despite the window Toolbar being customized to show 'Text Only', I have two words: Back and Forward!

I've tried disabling all extra third-party add-ons, even repaired permissions and the disk but all to no avail. I did an archive and install, maybe I should have done a clean install because a mere update would probably have produced the same result. But it looks like you have the same problem.

Well, yes I have the same problem, but it doesn't affect me, as I use Icons only.
I do wonder how it got that way, I recently erased and reinstalled Panther, and didn't notice when that may have started (because I don't have the text labels in the toolbar). I don't have a need to really fix it. (out of sight, out of mind)

It looks as if I am not the only one with this 'problem', I've had reports in other forums of the same thing even after a clean install. One suggestion I got was to create a new user and see if it still persists. I'll let you know.

Extra users makes no difference, still only the one word.
