Question Printing/Margins

I'm trying to print Apple Works documents from my new g4 powerbook and neither my Lexmark nor Epson printers "read" the margins correctly. Words at the end of lines (that look in the document window that they are fitting within the margins) are cut short. In "preview" (PDF) I can see the words that will get cut short when it prints and go through the document and adjust it line by line, but....
Any ideas why the miscommunication between the computer and the printer?
Thanks

There is a preference in AppleWorks that may help.

AppleWorks: Preferences: General: Topic - Text: Fractional Character Widths. This should be checked unless you are running an Imagewriter, but it is not the default in AppleWorks. Maybe in AppleWorks 7 it will be checked by default.

past discussions on this

abkol,

this problem has been around for ages. there have been some brave people who have attempted to fix it. the hint is on the main osxhints page (do a search for a4 print margins). it basically involves editing some of the dimensions that os X uses to define a page.

i have to agree with you that this is an irritating problem!
