I would like to connect to my home computers from work. I have an ADSL account with an ethernet BeWan modem connected to an airport extreme base station. The base station is configured to distribute private IP addresses (e.g. 10.0.1.110). Even though I can manage to know the public IP address attibuted by my provider, how can I connect to one of my home computers?
If it is possible, are there specific settings I should use on the base station? Thanks for your help. |

Have a look here...
http://macosx.miraworld.tv IT shows how to connect using SSH...which is secure and then you can tunnel the other stuff you want to see over it.. Cheers, --Zed

I'm not familiar with Airport settings, but if they're anything like other DSL/Cable routers I've used, there will be a section on port settings, namely, which type of services (web, ftp, ssh, etc, represented by port numbers), will be supplied by which computer (or IP address).
You will need to specify which private IP address will have ssh (port number 22). You'll probably only be able to specify one computer for ssh access from outside, but you'll be able to ssh to the private IPs of other computers on your home network if they have ssh servers.
