Unhappy How to get Safari to stop reloading all open pages?

Safari seems to reload all open pages when I come back to it. And it won't just show what was there previously, which is all I want most of the time.

But this is slow and sometimes even fails with Safari complaining that the local network is too slow and so it can't reload the page - which I don't want reloaded!

I just want whatever was there before. For me automatic reloading is totally unnecessary, and if I want the latest version, then I can reload manually...

Is there a way to stop Safari automatically reloading pages? If so, how? I'm using latest Safari 5.1.7 and Snow Leopard on an 8 gigs Intel Mac Mini.

Thanks for any help,
Cris

Some sites auto-load periodically, and there's not much you can do about those sites, although something like Glims might have a setting that prevents auto-updating.

Do you mean that you are Quitting Safari, then reopen, and Safari then, by default, loads all the same windows that you had open when you quit Safari
Or - do you mean that Safari remains open, but not active - and when you bring it to the front, any open Safari windows reload without you choosing to do that?

I mean the second. That Safari remains open, but not active - and when you bring it to the front, any open Safari windows reload without you choosing to do that?

It's a real pain but, on reflection, maybe it doesn't always happen on all sites. I'll have to keep a lookout for which sites...

I've just installed Glims Light for the tab favicons, so if Glims had an option to stop auto reloading, that would be wonderful...

Thanks, Cris
