hack for Epson 2500?

On February 8, MacInTouch published a letter from Erik Oliver in the MacOS X readers reports that told of a successful hack to convert a SC740 diver to work as a SS2500 driver. I've tried unsuccessfully to duplicate what he did.

My son and I both have these printers and we're desperate to be able to print under X. Is there one who has successfully done that(or knows how to reach Mr Oliver)?. I would be very grateful.
