Epson 2450 Image Capture Lion Issues

Wondering what is going on the the Image Capture for the Epson Perfection 2450 Scanner for Lion. When trying scan multiple pages into a PDF document the "Combine into a single document" selection generates strange results. It took the graphic letter head off the scanned document and made it page 2, and page 2 never got scanned. How do you scan a bunch of pages into a single document? Also the scanner fires up immediately after you launch the Image Capture window. What is going on with this driver.

Another issue is when scanning text the letter graphics are highlighted in the scan.

Comments, am I missing something here.

Thanks

Why is the scanner taking a 1 page scan and making a 2 page document with the logo as page 2. The scanner is selecting out the logo with the document. So when I try to scan a 2 page document, I get four pages with a logo on page 2, and page 4.

Evidently with the New Image Capture the scanner senses multiple objects on a page and breaks them out as individual items.

So if you don't want this feature I suppose you have to deselect any items to produce a single scan page. It this a feature?
