DVI-D female to DVI-I male adapter

EDIT; The subject is obviously wrong -- should be DVI-D female (to receive cable plug) to DVI-I male (to plug into MBP)

I have a 22" Samsung Syncmaster 226CW wide-screen monitor that I'd like to hook up to a 2008 MacBook Pro4,1 laptop, but the connectors don't match. The Samsung has two clusters of 9 pins in two separate square patterns with a blade at the top of the array (which is a single-link arrangement as shown in the lower image below; there's a separate connector for VGA), while the MBP has a solid block of 4 x 8 male receptacles below a small cluster of 4 receptacles in a cross as show in the upper image, a DVI-I female for which I need the plug.

I've done a lot of searching and haven't found either an adapter or a cable.

Use a single link DVI-D cable.

The Idiot responds: "Doh, the dual link cable I have actually fits even though they don't look the same -- don't know yet whether it works, however; haven't had time to rig it up."

If the cable fits it'll work

DVI is largely backwards compatible. DVI-I is just DVI-D and DVI-A on one connector. So the newer DVI-I dual link connectors can drive a single link DVI-D monitor. You can also attach a DVI-A to VGA converter and drive a VGA monitor.

@trevor: Thanks

@SirDice: Didn't realize that until I pulled the connector off the back of the screen and discovered it looked exactly like the one on the MBP. Thanks.
