The remove 3rd party memory is an excellent suggestion. I had an intermittent failing 'crucial' memory set that caused me to end up doing a complete install, after pretty much walking through the recommendation set except for ... and then the memory completely failed resulting in the not-able-to-boot-to-life problem.

Any issues installing Snow Leopard? (re APE, etc)
I wanted to know if there are any applications that cause problems installing snow leopard. I remember when I first got Leopard, APE messed up my install and I had to do a clean install. I'd really like to avoid that.
Right now I have custom Docks, Menubar Icons, and Theme (with Magnifique). I also have APE installed. Will any of these cause any problems? |

Spinning wheel of death
Unfortunately, I experienced the infamous spinning wheel of death on Snow Leopard upgrade. But I managed to fix the problem using a combination of the methods described in the link.

I just installed Snow Leopard and happy to report no major issues. Sure I had two old screen savers that I forgot about, that didn't work. One plug-in didn't work. A few apps needed upgraded, ie: Cyberduck. And remote desktop for mac didn't work, but I already was using an alternative.

Note that software known to cause problems on 10.6 (eg, APE) will be moved aside on install.

I had to remove the Dock plist when it crashed on application launch. You have to reset everything but at least it doesn't crash. |

I have Macbook Pro with 2.16 Ghz Intel Core Duo processor, running system version 10.6.8, "i can't install lion 10.7 because i have processor 2.16 Ghz Intel Core Duo"
The problem is that when I try to install mysql throw terminal I think I did a wrong permission command that I can't remember so something happened that my mac goes crazy. The Problem I am facing now is: Every thing I change in system preferences like switch bluetooth sharing off and then quit system preferences and open it again i will find that bluetooth sharing at sharing preferences comes back again and so on on all the preferences Also whenever i start my browser "firefox" it opens all the old tabs that I have opened before even if I close them one by one then I quit firefox and when I start FireFox again all same old tabs comes back again Even my dock, what ever I change with dock icons it comes back again after restart. So I try to create another user and I loged in there and all the problem goes away, so I think my admin user has a problem with permissions that firfox or other applications or even preferences can't save the last change in the system because the folder that all stored in does not have permission to save there. This problems I am having might be because of some command I run in terminal and I think it is a permission wrong command. Please if you can guide me to the solution for it or if you can address me to a website that can solve my problem i will be very thankful to you. |

Good subject, good comments!
I'd put run Disk Warrior as number two or three on my list. |
