Cool Mozilla 1.4 -vs- Netscape 7.1

Mozilla 1.4 and Netscape 7.1 has just been released, both have the same guts. What are your experiences?

---

Mozilla has long been a favorite of mine, that goes without saying on this forum. Netscape's new release, from what I hear, is the first real one in a LONG time. I'm hearing good things about it for a change!

Thoughts?

Re: Mozilla 1.4 -vs- Netscape 7.1

The way I've understood it (subject to correction) is that Mozilla is usually a few steps ahead of Netscape in development. If you check Netscape 7.1, for example, you'll see that it lists blocking pop-ups as a new feature; that's been around in Mozilla for quite some time. Also, Netscape seems more bloated than Mozilla, and a tad slower. . . at least that was my experience a few months ago when I had them both. Now I pretty much stick to Mozilla.

The Mozilla front page reveals that in this case (first time in a long time) the new Netscape has the same guts as the new Mozilla.

Has anyone tried them both?

I have Mozilla 1.4 on all of the machines I use. I have been using Mozilla for some time and I rather enjoy it. I had to install Netscape 7.0 and 7.1 on one of my machines in order to help a client and it sucks in comparison to Mozilla. Lots more bloat and tons of extra crap I don't want. Consequently, once I was finished helping the client, I uninstalled Netscape!

I use the Firebird browser -- it's Mozilla without Mail or Composer or the News reader. I've found it faster than Mozilla, which I've found faster than Netscape.

Firebird is not ready. Buggy, and ugly.
Netscape is simply Mozilla that AOL has ruined with their "additions".
