Loading DVD-RAM disks

Hello:

Would you please tell us how to format the
DVD-RAM disks ( Optodisk 9.4 Go doubke sided) using MacOS 9
or X?

Everytime we try to load them, the G4 just ejects them.

Thanks for your help.

Silly question, but is your G4 equipped with a DVD-RAM drive?

Yes it is.

My G4's DVD-RAM drive recognizes the 5.2 Go disks but the 9.2 ( type 4 )
are ejected systematically.

Thanks for your interest in this matter

A wee 2 minute search at the Apple site turned up this:

Quote:
"Single-sided 2.6 gigabyte (GB) DVD-RAM Type 1 cartridge (disc not removable) and Type 2 cartridge (disc removable)
Double-sided 5.2 GB DVD-RAM Type 1 cartridge (disc not removable)
Single-sided 4.7 GB DVD-RAM Type 1 and Type 2 cartridge (Power Mac G4 (Gigabit Ethernet) only)
Double-sided 9.4 GB DVD-RAM Type 1 and Type 2 cartridge (Power Mac G4 (Gigabit Ethernet) only)"

Looks like only Type 1 & 2 of the 9.4 gig disks are supported. You said yours was a type 4?

From this knowledge base article.

Yes !

"OM940-400 Type 4 "
It's what I can see written on the external case lable.

It seems that at the time when the article you refer to was written,
Type 4 disks weren't conceived yet. only types 1 and 2 existed at that time.

Thanks
