Applications "broken" by Lion (10.7)

Here's the place to list "broken" apps for Lion (10.7).

Obviously, all PowerPC only applications will break without Rosetta, so that's a long and distinguished list.

There are many apps that are not compatible with Lion OS. Even sometime it had problems with Apple Store as well.

These are Apple programs that should be new versions, designed for Lion, and installed as part of Lion.

I find it hard to believe that the apps included with Lion would not be compatible with Lion.

I suspect this is some other problem that you are having, perhaps related to third-party software on your Mac that is not compatible with Lion.

Start a new thread, and include the crash log as an attachment.

Thumbs down Kindle Broken for me

Five people at Amazon Tech Support, 90 minutes. Was told it'll be a couple of days before the Kindle for Mac app works right.

They gave these instructions (which didn't work for me):

For OSX 10.7 Lion Please:

1. Open “Terminal” by going to Mac Hard drive > Applications > Utilities > Terminal.app
2. Type in Terminal the following line:
chflags nohidden ~/Library/
3. Hit enter.

To ensure everything is removed from the Applications Registration files please do the following afterwords:

1. Close the Kindle for Mac application.
2. Open the hard drive from the desktop.
3. Open the "Users" folder.
4. Open the folder with your current user's name. The folder icon will be a house.
5. Open the "Library" folder.
6. Open the "Application Support" folder.
7. Open the folder named "Kindle".
8. Delete folder named "Storage"
9. Re-open the Kindle for Mac application.
10. You will now be prompted to register.

This should get the application cleared of any more registration problems. More information about Kindle for Mac can be found here:

Easy Kindle Fix (and maybe others)

I fixed my kindle app on my recently updated to lion mac by using appzapper. I used it to delete Kindle app and then re-downloaded the kindle software via the app store.

I got this app years ago in a Mac Hiest bundle and really like it. it searches for the library entries, etc associated with a .app file ad deletes them along with the app. I think of it as a thurough uninstaller.

AB and Mail are PART of Lion, with new versions written FOR Lion, so unlikely that Lion has broken these apps.

You should start a new thread in the Applications forum. Your problem is not that Address Book and Mail are incompatible with Lion; but rather that you have a problem with your old data being recognised by these apps.

Please provide much more detail in the new thread: include what OS you upgraded from, how you upgraded, what steps you have tried.

Terminal - watch out for strange behavior when you log in to a remote host. I ssh'd into my AppleTV 1 to run top and got this:

Code:
Last login: Thu Aug 18 13:51:57 2011
-bash-2.05b$ top
Error opening terminal: xterm-256color.
Turns out the default terminal emulation is now xterm-256color. Depending on your host you may need to change that to xterm-color:

Preferences->Settings->Advanced->Emulation

Applications "broken" by Lion 10 7

Just wondering what experiences some of you might have had with ad hoc mode WLANs. Does anyone use ad hoc mode beyond a couple users? What types of applications do you use ad hoc for? Any experiences with mesh network topologies?

SafariStand is broken. Anyone know how to set keyboard shortcuts without using modifier keys, ala SafariStand?

There is a beta version of Onyx for ML available now.
