command line sleep parameters

What's shaking, gang...

When I don't need to actively use my computer, but still have iTunes running out music, I just turn off my monitor. Simple. But my girlfriend uses an iMac... she has no power button for her monitor. The "Energy Saver" preference pane does, however, list the option of separate sleep timing for "display sleep" and "hard drive sleep" (or something like that). What I want to know is: is there a command that can be entered in Terminal.app to send the system directly into "display sleep?" Or, if I am barking up the wrong tree altogether, is there some other way to turn off an iMac's monitor without powering down the rest of the machine? By the way, in case this should matter, this ain't one of them new-fangled fancy flat screen G4 jobbies, neither... good, old-fashioned, two tons of CRT ruby iMac goodness with the G3 to boot. Thanks.
