Grapevine seems to offer an interesting twist, with a more localized venue.
[haven't actually tested it myself... but the "neighborhood watch" concept looks like it might catch on, here and there]

[OFF]: what's with the "Thank you for posting! Your post will not be visible until a moderator has approved it for posting." routine.

I think it's a residual effect from some spam filtering I tried. It blocked a number of longtime users so I canned it. My apologies that you got caught by it; there must be some cache on the server that did that. PM me if you have any further difficulties posting.

Here's another one with a twist:

Waze - a social driving and navigation app that connects you to other drivers in order to get all the real-time road information you need...every time you get into the car!
  • Enjoy FREE voice-guided, turn-by-turn navigation that learns as you drive
  • See Real-time traffic, construction, hazards and police information from other wazers + twitter
  • Find Facebook friends on the road
  • Check in to 4SQ at your destination and unlock the 4SQ 'Road Warrior' badge
  • Turn your car into a giant 'Road Muncher' and get points for paving new roads as you explore your city
  • Take social media to the next level by staying connected, even on the road
