How to change Default desktop picture for external monitor - AGAIN!?

I have done this before by replacing the image on this file /System/Library/CoreServices/DefaultDesktop.jpg
But it does not do the trick any more.
This need is absolutely essential because I need just a black projected when my video ends and external desktop will be shown. So there must be this (actually pretty ugly and annoying) picture hidden somewhere else than core services.
And this is kind of urgent - I have a show in 3 days.

a) Open the Desktop / Screen Saver PrefsPane
b) Be sure to have the 2nd monitor attached when you do this
c) Drag the black JPEG or TIFF (or whatever) file onto the PrefsPane screen representing that monitor. Done!
