Unhappy Sharing internet connection with 360

Hi all, I have searched for this everywhere and cannot find any solutions!

My situation: I am in halls of residence and have to connect to the internet via an ethernet cable. I had to log on to the network the first time I used it (possibly for the network to register my MAC address?) but I dont have to anymore.

My Xbox cannot connect when I just plug the same ethernet cable into the xbox.

I have with me a Belkin wireless network adapter which I have been using with my xbox for years. It is configurable via by connecting to its IP.

TO THE POINT!

I have the a connection on my mac via the ethernet, and have turned internet sharing on (share from ethernet > airport with no password)

I have configured the belkin adapter to connect to my mac, and it says connected.

When the adapter is plugged into the xbox, the xbox cannot connect.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Harry
