iMac keeps rebooting after hard drive replacement

I just finished replacing the hard drive of my 20" Intel iMac. I just got the machine back together and can't seem to boot up off the OS 10.4.8 install disc. I get the startup sound the apple logo comes on the screen and then it reboots and reboots and reboots.... It does this when i hold the option and when I hold the "C" keys.

I did target disc mode form my laptop and used disc utility to format the drive remotely but still getting same symptoms.

Any ideas?

Maybe the DVD drive got disconnected during the process? Try a remote install of OS X while booted in target disk mode and see where that takes you.

try booting w/ the alt key down, do you see the HDD and the DVD disc on screen, if so select the dvd and click the right arrow.
