Unhappy Font Woes

I am having a terrible time with fonts in MacOS X. I didn't realize that the many crashes I've been having over the past several months were probably related to some bad fonts.

I recently purchased FontDoctor (with the Suitcase package) and ran that on all of my fonts. Not to my suprise, it found an amazing number of errors and issues. After fiddling and using FontDoctor, I've resolved all issues that FontDoctor sees, however now I am still running into issues with font apps, such as FontBook or Fontage when I try to print out a catalog of fonts.

Are there any other applications or ways of resolving font issues? I've got all of my fonts divided up alphabetically thanks to FontDoctor now, so I've isolated "bad groups" (at least ones that crash FontBook's print tool) to several letters of the alphabet, but there are so many fonts under those catagories that it is impossible for me to manually narrow them down.

Any suggestions? Anyone see this before?

I think the real problem is Suitcase - this software touches your fonts and sometimes seriously damages files.

As long a I used Suitcase I had lots of crashes and problems with fonts.

Now, I am using Font Reserve and did build up my Fonts Database from scratch - :-/ (because Font Reserve does not repair fonts)

Since a few months - there is a new font management AND repair tool FontAgent Pro http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/16950
Have a look and let me know if it solved your problems!

Interestingly I've not been able to run Suitcase yet due to the font issues, so Suitcase hasn't had a chance to run amuck.

There is a fellow that is kind enough to send me a font program with debugging enabled, so we are going to get to the bottom of this.
