Mac Mini's Disc Board
I just received a very interesting Mac Mini that has the hard drive and optical drive dead.
Cannot start the OS, but it can run from an external hard-disc. I tested on another mac the MacMini Hard-drive and it was ok. Mother board is working fine... So: I do really need help (that mac can help me a lot in my phd research!!!!). Can it be a problem associated with "disc board"? can I find that board? should I take out the hard drive put it in an external firewire 400 (or USB 2) box and run OS from there? CAn you help Any ideias will be the most helpfull PLEEEEEEEEEASE Thanks |

Maybe try reinstalling the OS using the OS X Install DVD - you should always do an "erase & install" when you get a used Mac.

What Mac mini is it? Have you opened it up? Does it have an actual 'disc board' if it does these guys can probably find/sell you one. www.mac-resource.com or try ebay.

That seems like the simplest, least expensive way to go. |

Thanks to all... I took the easiest decision: to put the hdd in a external Firewire box. It runs smoothly...
Thanks for the attention. |
