Classroom setup Network
I am looking at setting up a classroom setup using macs. I would love to be able to use on main mac to control others on the network and show the kids stuff.
Also is it possible to buy one license for certain software and share it on the network. Can any one give me some advice. Is there a word to describe what i am doing? Do i need to buy a server? Please help anyone. Cheers |

You don't necessarily need to buy a server. But, of course, that depends on how many things you want to 'show' people. At the very base level, a couple things you will probably want -
A router (similar to an Airport Extreme or Base Station) - this will provide your network connection, unless you already have some network infrastructure set up. A network switch - if you are using ethernet networking, otherwise, make sure all the computers you are planning to use are Airport enabled Apple Remote Desktop - this is a software program that will allow you to view / manage / control any Macs that you have a user name / password on a network. |

How many macs?
Are you going to do package management and deployment? Are you going to have local or network accounts? Basically it all depends on what you want to do. Then list all your needs and your budget and we can steer you in the right direction.
