Question Fix Safari Bookmarks.plist

Something happened when I upgraded to Safari 6 (or possibly earlier) with my Safari bookmarks. They work just fine for accessing sites, but I cannot add to any folder on the Bookmarks Bar (in any folder or anywhere). It gives no error messages, but nothing gets added.

If I select Copy and then Paste of a bookmark, that works fine. But adding a new one, nothing happens.

How do I export my bookmarks and then import them again so I can get a clean set? Or how do I fix the problem?

(I know about the Safari File>Export and File>Import, but that is html and doesn't seem to solve the problem).

You have a backup? Use it.

It's not really possible to work out what the problem is on the basis of what you have posted. What messages do you see from Safari in either your console.log or system.log?

I did have a backup, but it didn't work, which is why I mention it may have happened earlier but didn't notice it. I did find a solution by exporting to xml and was able to then re-import the bookmarks get it to work. Console had nothing that I saw, nor was there any crash log (as expected).

Thanks for the help, though. I was getting frustrated until I figured out the xml way.
