Mail: CC or BCC recipient
Hello,
I have received an email for which the "TO" field is addressed to someone else. That is, I have received it as a CC or a BCC. How do I determine whether I am the CC or BCC recipient of the email? I can see the header information by choosing View - Message - All Headers from the menu options. But I can not determine how I received the message. Many thanks for any help. If you were CC'd you would see the entire list of CC recipients. Since you don't see those, you were BCC'd.

Thanks for your help. What if I am the only one in the list? I mean what if I am the only other recipient. And where would I see this, In the headers?

The message could be Bcc'd to thousands and you would never know.
By the way, if you are using Apple Mail in Mountain Lion, the top of the message will list you as To: or Cc:. It doesn't seem to show anything if you are Bcc'd. Mail on Lion may be the same. You can practice sending yourself email messages with your own name as the To:, Cc:, and Bcc: to try to figure it out. |

Yeah Excellent point chabig, indeed the CC field will appear on other messages where I am included in a list of CC recipients. So I think I have been BCC'd on this one. And I will take your advice and test it. Thanks for your help.
