Syncing Messages in Lion
Messages sync on my iPhone and Mountain Lion iMac, but not my Lion laptop. Can this be done? In other words I sent a message from my iPhone and the message and the rest of the thread show up on my iMac but not my Lion laptop. It's only 4.5 years old and I'm not ready to replace it yet.
PS: How can I search for answers? Messages, Lion ±Mountain. Neither works. |

You might be able to upgrade your Lion laptop to Mt. Lion. It's not much money. To find out, open up the App Store on the Lion laptop and see if Mt. Lion shows up.

I think the answer is going to be that you can't sync it on Lion. While Messages handles the same accounts iChat handles, Messages also handles iMessages, which is something new introduced in Mountain Lion.
Regarding searching, oh boy. Not only do you have to deal with Lion but not Mountain Lion, you have to deal Messages versus messages. Ugh. Maybe try searching iMessage and 10.7.4 or 10.7.5?

The Messages beta will provide this functionality for 10.7. Your Lion Mac will also be stuck using this beta software, but overall it works okay. That's what I run on my Mac which can't run Mountain Lion.
On this page, the direct download link still works: http://www.redmondpie.com/download-i...-beta-for-os-x |
