Moving iPhoto,iMovie to HD?

My wife's iMac is full so I dragged iTunes and iMovie to a external HD and that was a success but they're still on her computer HD; can I delete iPhoto and iMovie from her comp. HD?

Thank You, David

The applications themselves don't typically take up as much space as your user files.
So, while you can move applications to other drives, it often causes problems - especially with software update - and so it is better to move some of your user files instead.

First step when a drive is full should always be to find out what is taking the most space. There are several 3rd-party utilities that help with this - e.g. OmniDiskSweeper

Indeed. Don't move the applications, move the location of the user library where all your music and photos are stored.
You will need to "point" iTunes and iPhoto to the new location of the files.

And that took about 10 seconds? Maybe 30, tops? Wrong files.

Look in Wife's Home Folder, find the "Music" and "Pictures" folders. Drag these folders to the external drive - it should take a while, like 15-30 minutes. Now drag the original Movies and Pictures to the Trash.

Open iPhoto, it will ask where the iPhoto Library is. Browse to the Pictures folder on the external drive.

Open iTunes, it will be empty. Choose Preferences -> Advanced and change the iTunes Media Folder Location. Quit and restart iTunes, your music should be there.

Once you have confirmed that both programs have their content you can empty the trash.
