QuickLook should work in Mail in 10.9.

What are you doing? What happens when you do it?

I can either press <space> on a selected attachment, or right-click and select "QuickLook Attachment".

(Harumph. The verb 'To quicklook'. )

I don't see an option to use Quick Look. It's not in customize tool bar either. Often it was the only way to open attachments people sent, and my preferred way to quickly glance through long powerpoint attachments of no importance.

What happens when you select an attachment and press <space> ?
Are you saying there is no option in the right-click Contextual menu?

In that case, something is very wrong. Do you have any customized plug-in for Mail, or any third-party apps that run in the background at all times -- keyboard macros, etc?

QuickLook isn't an option in Custom Toolbars here, though.

Oh: it shouldn't be the ONLY way of opening attachments: Preview can handle most Office formats, images, PDFs, etc. TextEdit can also open Word docs, HTML files...

Your highlight and press space bar worked; thank you. I have Office, I just don't like to use PowerPoint for the crap some of nearest and dearest think I should see, and find QL a much faster way to scan through it.

Quick Look is still there in OSX 10.9 Mavericks Mail, it's just slightly hidden now... Here are 4 ways to use Quick Look:
1. Select item(s) and press space bar.
2. Select item and do a 3 finger tap.
3. Right click (2 finger tap) item and select 'Quick Look Attachment'.
4. Hover the mouse arrow in the header area of the message. You will then see various icons appear on the line below the headers; Delete, Reply, Reply all, Forward, and a paperclip with a number to show how many attachments there are. If you select the paperclip, you will see a list of the attachments, as well as options to Save All, or to Quick Look.

Hint, for methods 1,2, & 3, if you use 'Command A' to select all items in your message, then use the space bar, 3 finger tap, or right click, you will then be able to Quick Look at all attachments in that message. Otherwise, the Quick Look will only open the single item that you selected.
