Preview - Save Combined PDF's

I'm using the latest version of OS 10.8 Mountain Lion.

Using Preview I have combined a series of PDF files. The result is great - it has a table of contents.

However, I can't figure out how to save the file.

Save and Export don't work... I end up saving one document or all of them, depending upon what's selected. They are not combined.

Any help would be appreciated.

You have to be careful about how you drag the additional file into the thumbnails. You can have several separate documents, all displayed in a list in a thumbnails window.
Make sure that you drag the PDF below the title (in the bookmarks sidebar), and that it doesn't have its own title.
