Dictionary reference sources deleted

I am trying to help my neighbor who is a recent convert from the Windows world.
He made the mistake of downloading MacKeeper, for the purpose of 'cleaning up his system', and would up deleting quite a few of his apps.

He didn't trust Time Machine, because it wouldn't let him access his backups manually, so he turned it off after I set it up for him (he has since been convinced that he was in error).

I was able to replace most of what was lost, but I am having problems with 'dictionary'. The way dictionary was set up before, he had the New Oxford Standard Dictionary, the Oxford American Writers Thesaurus, and Wikipedea.
However, after the MacKeeper fiasco, he doesn't have the dictionary or the thesaurus anymore.

I've already searched Apple's support community, and while I've found instructions on how to add new dictionaries, I haven't been able to find a resource for the dictionaries that were deleted, as most of the references that I have found are for foreign language dictionaries. Is there any way to obtain the original .dict files without a clean install and restore from Time Machine (now that it is back up and running)?

I decided to re-install everything and restore from a time machine backup. That fixed the dictionary problem.

What does "manually" mean? You can, as I'm sure you know, restore any individual file from TM. And you can browse the backups in the Finder.
I hope you have made these points clear to him.
