ASUS USB N-10 not working in Mountain Lion
My Wi-Fi adapter no longer works on my Mac Book Pro. I was looking for a quick and affordable alternative instead of purchasing a new airport card and having the apple store install it for me.
I purchased a Asus USB N-10 Wireless Adapter, and I am having trouble installing it. The drivers that come with the CD are for 10.7, and they did not work for me. I then downloaded the Realtek RTL8192SU 10.8 Drivers, and I still am not having any luck. According to the installation guide, I install the drivers, reboot, then in Network Preferences I add the Wi-Fi from the configuration list, but I am unable to do this step. The usb adapter is not detected. Has anyone had any experience with installing this adapter for OSX Mountain Lion? I would really appreciate the help getting it to work. Thanks Jon |

How do you know that your WiFi interface in your MacBook Pro has a hardware problem, and not a software problem? Exactly which MacBook Pro is it?
By the way, since the first MacBook Pro model in 2006, the AirPort 'card' has been built-in, not an installable card. Trevor

I know it is a hardware problem because 1) The apple store told me and 2) I my hard drive also went out, I replaced the hard drive and the network card still does not detect from any program within osx.
Also, even after 2006 the cards are still replaceable. I appreciate your help, but I am looking for more constructive responses. I am looking for anyone that has successfully installed an Asus N-10 USB Adapter with Realtek Drivers. Looking through the drivers plist Asus N-10 Adapter are supported. Now I am confused!
What then is the purpose of the Airport/Bluetooth _card_? Like this one: http://www.powerbookmedic.com/MacBoo...d-p-20998.html Any service shop could install one, but it's not user-accessible. Even the last models of iBooks and PowerBooks had similar cards. Built-in, but still a replaceable card. Just not "user-accessible" Asus does have newer drivers at their website... Have you tried that download? http://support.asus.com/download.asp...quT7gvx7FiSqBg Nothing there about support for 10.8 - but it was only updated in August 2012, so maybe it does also add support for 10.8 |

I went ahead and purchased an Airport card from that site. I was looking for a cheap and quick solution to getting wireless to work, but replacing the airport card seems to be the right way to go. Thanks for that link. I was looking at other webpages I didn't trust as much.
