Another iTunes duplicates thread

Hey all. I've searched through this forum and can't seem to find what specifically addresses my needs. I have a little over 500GB of music and I understand how to tell iTunes to show duplicates. However, it's really not that simple when you have things like Live versions of the songs you don't want to get rid of, among other things.

What I'm looking for is a duplicate remover (really for any platform at this point in my quest) that will automatically locate the duplicate files and allow sorting of duped items by bit rate, song length, etc.

Does anyone happen to have such a solution?

Have you checked (using search terms like: iTunes duplicates) on the usual Mac software sites?
(the Apple Mac Store, www.macupdate.com, etc)

I have, and that's part of the reason why I posted the thread here, because there's simply such a vast amount of duplicate software to choose from. I thought perhaps folks here might have more experience in dealing with duplicate music and might have tried some software out already.

I think iTunes will do that for you? In the duplicates window, make sure that the View Options (Command+J) are checked for file size, bit rate, etc.

They will, but I'm looking for something that will delete them automatically. Basically, the software would scan through all the music files in the folder, then allow me to automatically select, en masse, based on criteria I choose, such as, first select all that are duplicates, then, of those, select those with less bit rate quality, then remove them.

Does this make sense?
