PB G4 No Longer Automatically Restarts After Power Outage
My old PowerBook G4 no longer restarts after a power outage.
I'm sure the battery is almost completely dead. Is that the likely cause of the problem? I did try resetting the parameter RAM. Didn't seem to help. It does display the correct date and time on startup, so there must be some battery left.

I'm going to ask the Dumb Question (it's the only one I can think of right now) - is that option ticked in the Energy Saver prefs?
My Mac Mini restarted after a power outage and it doesn't even have a battery . The PB G4 has a PRAM battery but the correct time and date suggest it's OK. Unless you're online and it's being set via NTP.

^You can run it without a battery? Damn, I just ordered a new one....
Yes, that option is checked in Energy Saver prefs. I have even unchecked, rebooted and checked again I see the PRAM battery requires a soldering iron for replacement....

Which model is that? The Al models don't and the only Ti model I've looked at doesn't.

Which model PB G4 do you have? Most of them seem to have a pluggable PRAM battery.
But replacing one is not a job I'd undertake just to fix a small bug. (Arrgh.. double posting! Sorry... )

It's this one: PowerBook 6,2 (12" Aluminum, 1GHz)
This was my soldering-iron-required reference: iFixit - Replacing a PowerBook G4 PRAM Battery It's more than a small bug. I run a web cam on it. I travel frequently. The power here goes out frequently. I need it to restart after outages.
