High Quality USB2 hub source?

I seek two or more USB2 and/or USB3 (if and only if backwards compatible to USB2) hubs of four or more ports.

In 2006 or so, I had 5 USB hubs fail in one year, in a small network. Frustration drove me to Linksys/Cisco which then but not now sold USB hubs. One of the two I bought still works, but one has failed. I think my money was well spent on the high quality USB hubs I bought in 2006.

Does anybody have any to recommend now? The ones I see at the computer store look like the same junk that I had before.

Suggestions?

As always, Monoprice is one place to start...
How many ports do you need? How about 24 ports?

Not USB 3, however
Or - multi-port for USB 3.0

I have not used it personally, but I hear excellent things about the Vaunix Lab Brick. Warning, it's not cheap.

Thanks

Wow. The Vaunix looks great… if only it were an eighth or a seventh of that price.

I have liked other supplies from Monoprice. I wonder what the longevity is for a 12 port one like that 24 port one. DeltaMac, you you yourself have any experience with the 24 port one, or its little brother, the 12 port one?

The USB3/USB2 one requires an upstream port of USB3, which I don't have yet.

Yeah, it's really pricy. The Tripp-Lite U222-007 is much much cheaper, and is better than average as USB hubs go.

I usually go to Amazon or new egg (monoprice is good too) and search for ones with a 4 Star or greater rating of what ever is in question. I look for a large N of reviews where possible 100's 1000's depending on the item.

I bought this 10 port one for my father, works great about 16 months go: $25

Here is all the 4 Star and up. USB 3 is going to be at least 2x more.

Here is all 4 star and up Hubs :

Eh, no. I haven't used larger than 7-port.
The 24-port is just something out of the ordinary that you may not know exists.
And, some folks might find a good use for all those ports in one place ...

if ever was one who could use a 24-port USB hub

It might be me. I ran my 2008 Mac Pro with 6 internal hard drives after finding the "secret," "deprecated" SATA connectors for positions 5 & 6 on the SATA bus. I never had much in the way of problems, but now I've taken the conservative path and disconnected them.

Still, 24 ports, well, that's a lot.

Thanks to everyone for suggestions, and for the new ways of looking at the question 7 years later.

I bought a 10 port one with 4+ star ratings, one that had reviews going back at least 3 years.
