Dual HDD and SSD for iMac Late 2006?

Hi guys,

Can I have a dual HDD and SSD for iMac Late 2006? It seems it is possible to install a SDD on an iMac Late 2006 in this website. Although there is little info on the process:

http://www.xlr8yourmac.com/systems/S...2006_imac.html

Unfortunately it seems i have to loose the main Hard Drive. It seems there is no enough space for both.

Besides that if i choose to install just ONE SDD will i need an adpater? i guess SDD are 2.5" and HDD are 3.5" is that right?

By the way, would you suggest me a good brand in SDD? i read OCZ Vertex is better than Crucial but i don't know why.

Thanks for any info on that!

Cheers,

I like Samsung 830 range for SSD have installed 100s and all is great.
Also feels good to put another Samsung component in the Mac ;-)

Thanks for the ifixit guides link Nick! Very good info indeed. It doesn't look as complicated to have a dual HDD and SDD instalation as in the newer models.

Do you know if you can find the Optical Bay SATA Hard Drive Enclosure somewhere else than ifixit? I think it is a bit expensive there.

Sebs

Thanks agentx for the info on Samsung 830! good info indeed.

I don't understand very much on the technical specs but do you know how this SDD is different from the

Samsung 830 / 128 GB
http://www.samsung.com/us/computer/m...C128N/AM-specs

Crucial 128 GB
http://www.crucial.com/store/partspe...LE=CT128M4SSD2

OWC 120 GB
http://eshop.macsales.com/shop/SSD/OWC/Mercury_6G/

Both are like 100 U$S cheaper than the Samsung. I don't know if there tech spec that i am missing.

Regards,
Sebs
