How can I downgrade my OS

I've discovered that my MIDI environment is being negatively impacted by the recent update to 10.7.5

Is there a way to reinstall 10.7.4? I found a place where I can download 10.7.4 on Apple's site but it's an update and I can't install it given that 10.7.5 is already on my machine

Thanks,
David

If you have a TimeMachine backup from before you updated to 10.7.5 - you could restore your system back to 10.7.4 from that.

Yeah, that would be too easy! Is there any way to get a 10.7.4 image anywhere?

Can you describe this in more detail? Are you sure the OS update is to blame? I would be surprised if anything was changed relating to MIDI in 10.7.5.
It may be possible to fix the problem without downgrading.

What particularly has been "negatively impacted"?

It didn't seem relevant to the question at hand so I didn't mention it. It appears that the MOTU Express XT disconnects after some period of inactivity and it is sometimes not detected when I boot up. I have to manually rescan MIDI devices. I cannot afford this when preparing for live shows and I don't know when MOTU will fix it. They haven't even confirmed it as an issue....downside of my being an early adopter!

Am I sure? Well, everything worked fine in 10.7.4 and the problem started immediately after updating to 10.7.5

I don't know what changed and I'd love to be able to just fix it --- but I don't know how, MOTU hasn't yet reproduced it and even when they do, it will take them time to get an update out....in the meantime I'm stuck.

I would definitely test the problem in a brand new user account. If it still happens there, then it's fair to say that the OS may be the cause. But coincidence does not mean cause. Post hoc ergo propter hoc, and all that.

Have you actually flagged this with MOTU?

I suspect that your only hope is a friend who has saved the InstallESD.dmg from an earlier version of Lion.

One other thing: you're running live shows, but you don't have a bootable backup....?

Have you installed the 10.7.5 supplemental update that came out just the other day? I know it doesn't explicitly mention any MIDI fixes, but Apple isn't always thorough in its release notes.

Turns out I have a superduper image of 10.7.4 from a few months ago, I'm installing that now. I had forgotten I had done that but I had done so just before replacing hard drives with SSDs.

I have had numerous exchanges with MOTU on this topic but as I mentioned before, until they test it themselves with 10.7.5 they're not going to do anything.

I did note there was a supplemental update but I was just more focused on getting back to an environment that worked without my having to mess around.

After reinstalling my 10.7.4 backup made at the end of July, my MIDI environment is working flawlessly again.

Phew!

Just lucky. I had forgotten that I had made superduper backups to my file server before installing SSDs in my laptop
