Preview in ML

Preview in ML

ML preview is great but I keep running into a maddening issue where all is fine and then I can no longer choose where to inert text into a PDF. The Text keeps jumping to the Top left of the page no matter where I click my cursor. Sometimes closing preview and the document helps. I would love to know what I or it is doing wrong. This ML 10.8.2.

Also sometimes the whole bloody window turns blue when editing and other times it does not. Since blue is the highlight color for text edit/selections, and movements its problematic.

Preview is not a PDF editor, so I'm not sure what you mean when you say, "I can no longer choose where to inert text". Are you talking about filling forms?

Yes

Yes filling out PDF forms in Preview. Actually you can Add Text to any PDF in Preview. You can add Mark Up. Add or Remove pages. You can add Signatures very nicely too.

Yes. You can annotate with text, but the insertion point goes to wherever you click. Is your problem with text annotation?

Yes starting in ML it works... But then randomly the insertion point does not go where I click the insertion point and resulting text jumps to the top left of the page I am on.

Also sometimes the whole bloody window on the page I am on turns blue when editing and other times it does not. Since blue is the highlight color for text edit/selections, and movements its problematic to see when your editing or selecting existing text.

Sometimes closing preview and the document helps and things return to normal, sometimes it just seems to fix itself. I would love to know what I or Preview is doing wrong.

In ML, Preview tries to make any PDF a fillable form by identifying checkboxes and underlined text areas. This means it'll make mistakes and turn an area that is meant to be for entering something like a phone number into a series of checkboxes and put the insertion pointer in the wrong place for text.

You can always just create your own text area anywhere you want it.

Interesting

Thank you.. Interesting.. But still the behavior that makes me crazy is when I can not control the Insertion point of Text. No matter where I click it still inserts text at the top of the page. It also sometimes turns the whole page blue which does not seem directly related to the issue of controlling the insertion point.

When I get stuck I close the preview and reopen the document and things return to normal.

Just trying to figure out what is going on,
