Is there any way to transfer files between 2 Macs using USB-cable? Thanks

No. USB is not a peer-to-peer protocol. Notice you have never seen an A-to-A cable in the stores?

If they are older macs then use firewire, which will work.

"sort of". That's two USB client widgets stuck together.

If the Macs in question both have FireWire it's both cheaper and faster.

Or connect them with ethernet or wifi. AirDrop works well.

Thanks.

Some USB-hubs have one upstream port. Is it possible to put another computer to this port and then transfer files?

If you are connecting "another computer" to the "one upstream port" then what are you connecting the first computer to?

Right...
If you connect one computer to an "upstream" port, then you would need a second "upstream" port on that hub, for the "other" computer
Good luck finding a hub with that capability.
As acme.mail.order said, USB is not a peer-to-peer protocol.

Nope. In fact I own three such cables, and I bought one of them in a store. One is for a CoolMax external 3.5 inch HD enclosure, and the other is for an Oyen Digital 2.5 inch USB2/eSATA/FW800 enclosure for HD. Photos available.

Still, this is off topic. I don't claim that I have used those cables to make a network connection between 2 Macs.
