Signatures stopped working in Mail

My preferences page shows a number of signatures in Apple Mail. They have all stopped working. When I click the signature drop-down on a new email, no signatures are listed. They have worked properly for a long time, but no more. I even added a new signature to see if that would make a difference. it doesn't show up in the drop-down either.
iMac running OS 10.8.2 and Mail 6.2. I have tried restarting the app as well as the computer—no luck.

I discovered the answer! When I clicked "new message" the new outgoing message was coming up as sent from my ~@me account. When I changed this drop-down to the account I regularly use, the signatures reappeared. I don't know how the preferences got switched to make the @me account the default—maybe in some recent mail update? Anyhow, everything is cool now, at least until the next update...
