Conflict between iPhoto and Finder?
I have a problem which I think I may have caused myself, by trying to reorganize some photos without using iPhoto. Unfortunately it was a long time ago and I didn't make notes, but here are the symptoms:
In my Home -> Pictures folder I have the iPhoto Library, which I believe is normal, but I also have another folder "Abcd" which I created myself, originally for some photos I wanted to burn to a CD. The Abcd folder contains nothing but JPG files. If I ignore iPhoto and simply double-click on one of those files it opens in Preview, and appears as a normal image, just like any other JPG file. In iPhoto the image is in an album which also has the name Abcd – I don't know whether that's relevant. When I select it in iPhoto, it appears quite normally as a thumbnail; for instance, I can flip it to see the place name and an attached Google map. However, if I double-click it, I see the full-screen image for a fraction of a second and then nothing but a blown-up exclamation mark (screenshot attached). A curious thing is that some of the photos behave in this way, but not all. Can anyone suggest anything? The only idea I've had is to copy the problem files to somewhere else, delete them in Abcd, delete them also from the iPhoto library using iPhoto itself, and then use iPhoto again to re-import them. Does that make sense? |
